Ricardo Wilkins has been a member of the Central Ohio chapter of the 100 Black Men since shortly after it was founded. In that time, he has served in various areas, including 2nd Vice-President, Secretary, and most recently as the chapter's Technology Advisor. In the past, he has been instrumental in the creation and maintenance of the chapter's website, as well as its web-based membership management & collaboration needs. In 2002, he was awarded the Member of the Year award for his efforts, and he continues to provide valuable service toward the needs & mission of the chapter.
His affinity for mentoring youth in the community extends beyond his participation with the 100 Black Men. He also volunteers to help teach high school students about computers and web development through a High School Computer Competition program sponsored by the Black Data Processor's Association. He has also taught basic computer & web literacy to youth ages 6 thru 12 through his local work with the Africentric Personal Development Shop.
Professionally, Ricardo has over 10 years of experience in the software industry, in areas such as SharePoint and web development, R&D, and in public and private consulting. He has helped many small & medium businesses with their technology needs through Nehemiah Enterprises, a consulting company he founded in 1999. But he has also served as Chief Technology Officer for a business-to-business networking group called Izania, and as a senior software developer for the Ohio Attorney General's Office. He currently serves as a SharePoint Development Architect for ICC, a local consulting firm and Microsoft Gold Certified partner. Some of his technical writings can be found at his blog (rixbits.blogspot.com) as well as on Twitter (@ricardo303).
Ricardo has been married to wife Angela for over 9 years, and is committed to family life. This commitment is strengthened by his devotion to God, which he cultivates through his membership at New Salem Baptist Church, and his participation in small-group bible studies, one of which he currently serves in as a Shepherd Leader. He enjoys fostering relationships with others, and serving his community. |
